2015, 80 Percent Jakarta people enjoy clean water

Jakarta Capital City through its Regional Water Company keeps providing clean water for Jakarta people.

At present, 62% Jakarta people have enjoyed clean water.

It has been targeted that 80% of Jakarta people will enjoy clean water in 2015.

Jakarta Governor, Fauzi Bowo stated that to increase the quality of the clean water, the city should be supported by many sides.

It is because the city can not bear all infrastructures needs.

“To achieve the target, we have to improve any development related to clean water supply,” he stated at the event of PAM 2010-2014 Infrastructure Financing Policy in The Sultan Hotel, South Jakarta, Wednesday (1/20).

I may be hard to reach the target, but it doesn’t mean impossible.

Therefore, the city will work hard to achieve the target.

"I am not pessimistic in reaching the target.
Every side should work hard on it,” he optimistically stated.

In 2010, it is hoped there will be an increasing in the percentage from 62% to 63%.

"One percent seems a small number, but it covers a lot of people. We are optimistic 80% target will be reached in 2015,” he added.

One of the main focuses is improving the clean water quality.

A lot of people reported that the water was not good enough.

The other focus is to minimize pipe leakage.

The Governor said that bad water quality was caused by river pollution.

At that time, many factories and residential areas were built in the riverbank.

It required a purification process and it means cost.
